Gifted and Talented

Every year, Quest, the gifted and talented program in the Gentry School District, seeks nominations from students, parents and other interested parties for names of students who could benefit from the program. The Quest program seeks to identify and serve gifted and talented individuals who have special characteristics and learning styles and whose talent for accomplishment is such that they require special provisions, experiences and services not provided for in the regular instructional program. Students are admitted to this program based on three steps: nomination, screening and selection. People aware of students in grades three through 12 who might benefit from this program, are asked to contact Sammie Cunningham at [email protected] or at 736.2251 for more information.

Gigantino is an early American historian who specializes in the history of slavery. His book, "The Ragged Road to Abolition: Slavery and Freedom in New Jersey, 1775-1865," focuses on how northerners repackaged slavery in the aftermath of the American Revolution to successfully extend the institution into the 19th century. Although his research is centered in the North, his teaching interests span not only the United States but the Atlantic Ocean as well. As an early American historian, he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in the history of Colonial, Revolutionary, Early National, and Antebellum America. The public is welcome.
