GENTRY -- Chris Lane, from Kernersville, N.C., will be the featured entertainer at this summer's July 4 Freedom Festival in Gentry City Park.

Lane began to play live shows after his college baseball career ended and, over the last few years, he has played in more than 500 shows, opening up for Florida Georgia Line, The Band Perry, Eli Young Band, Chris Young and Brantley Gilbert, among others.

Lane has also been featured on Lee Brice's "The Otherside Tour" and will continue to be on select dates with Florida Georgia Line throughout the year, according to his website.

His upbeat country-music style promises to liven up the evening at Gentry's Freedom Festival. He will take the stage at 8 p.m. His performance will be followed by the annual fireworks display.

He comes to Gentry after finishing a gig at Thunder on the Mountain, the Mulberry Mountain Country Music Festival in Ozark, June 26-28.

Other events at this year's Freedom Festival include yet-to-be-announced musicians and bands to lead up to Lane's performance, a coed softball tournament (call 479-790-8988 for more information or to sign up a team), a car show (call 479-238-4979 for more information), inflatable rides for the children, food, games, displays, Safari animals, rides, fireworks and more.

This will be the 102nd July 4th festival in Gentry, according to Bev Saunders, executive director of the Gentry Chamber of Commerce, which sponsors the annual event in Gentry.

"All events are in the Gentry City Park and there is no admission charge," Saunders said. "Come celebrate America's birthday in Gentry at the 102nd Freedom Fest celebration!" Saunders added.
