Mayor's family loses home to fire

GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 107 Eleventh Avenue, S.E., in Gravette, about 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The house was the home of Gravette mayor Kurt Maddox and his family.

A neighbor, Randy Amos, noticed flames coming from the home and called 911. The Maddox family was at church at the time of the incident.

The home was heavily involved by the time firefighters arrived and the home and its contents were a total loss.

Maysville and Sulphur Springs fire departments were also dispatched to the fire for mutual aid. The cause of the fire was not yet determined.

Maddox and his wife Dawn have six children.
