Two local students among those recognized by NWACC as Rising Scholars

BENTONVILLE -- Northwest Arkansas Community College recently recognized 132 high school students as Rising Scholars for having excelled in college classes at NWACC. Two local students were among those recognized.

Norman Barker, from Gentry High, and Dillan Sims, of Gravette High, were among those recognized.

High school students can take NWACC classes on the NWACC campus through the Early College Experience program or through the Northwest Technical Institute Secondary Career Center. To receive the award, graduating high school seniors must be enrolled in or have completed at least 12 college credit hours while maintaining a 3.0 or higher NWACC grade point average.

Home-school students recognized were: Rebekah Alexander, Mary Bartell, Maranda Bennett, Cynthia Butcher, Matthew Campbell, Andrew Deschenes, Madison Estabrook, Austin Estabrook, Adriana Joyce, Rebekah Lawler, Matthew Long, Sydney Maddox, Solomon Willis and Kwinn Woodell.

NWACC also recognizes area high schools for their commitment to offering students concurrent enrollment opportunities. To be recognized as an Early College Experience School, 10 percent or more of the students participating in the NWACC Early College Experience program must be recognized as NWACC Rising Scholars.
