2016 prom to be held in Siloam Springs

GENTRY -- The school board on May 18 gave unanimous approval to a request of next year's Gentry junior class to be allowed to hold the annual Gentry High School prom off campus and at the Cypress Barn in Siloam Springs.

Colton Little, representing next year's Gentry junior class, addressed the board and explained that the prom was held off campus last year and this year at venues in Fayetteville and Springdale. He explained that the Cypress Barn in Siloam Springs was much closer and a safe place to hold the event. He said the location offered onsite parking rather than having students parking offsite in nearby parking areas.

He said the large wooden barn has a capacity for 300 people, a dance floor and was only 10 miles away from Gentry rather than 25 or 30 miles.

The school board welcomed his presentation and unanimously approved the closer venue for the prom.
