Maysville Yard Sale

A community yard sale will be held May 30, beginning at 8 a.m., at the Maysville Community Building. It is all indoors and will be held, rain or shine. Booths are available to rent for $10. Call 479 291 4520 for more information.

Go7 Food Program

The Go7 food program's next free food giveaway will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Gravette Civic Center (Boys and Girls Club building) on Charlotte St. S.E. This month's giveaway was postponed from May 23 because of the Memorial Day holiday. The program is open to the public and requires no proof of income. Bags may be brought. The food program will continue on the fourth Saturday of each month at the same time and location.

Maysville Day

Maysville Day will be held on June 6 and will include the "Cuties and Beauties Pageant." Boys and girls, 0 to 10 years of age, may be entered. Entry forms are available on the Maysville Day and Maysville Extension Homemakers Facebook page or by calling 479-291-4520

Highfill Town Meeting

Highfill officials have scheduled a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at Highfill City Hall. Highfill officials hope to inform residents and business owners of projects this year, including discussion on relocating the Highfill Community Building, the Arkansas State Aid City Street Program project the city is working on with the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department for certain roads within the city (S. Main St., Fourth St., Walker St., Smith St, Douglas Cemetery Rd. and N. Main St.) and the Highfill Fire Department addition.

Decatur Summer Reading

The Iva Jane Peek Public Library in Decatur is planning a summer reading program beginning in June which is open to children, 5 to 9, and is free. Program dates are June 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The library is located on the corner of N. Main St. and Roller Ave. Library hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday and 3:30 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Gravette Summer Reading

The opening event in the Gravette Public Library's summer reading program will be held Thursday, June 4, beginning at 11 a.m. The theme for the five-week program is "Every Hero Has a Story" and the first session will feature "Disney Super Heroes - Villians and Sidekicks." The sessions are free and open to all children ages 4 to 12 in the area. Come by the library at 407 Charlotte Street, S.E., or call library manager Kim Schneider at 787-6955 to register.

Benefit Yard Sale

A benefit yard sale will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, June 5 through June 7, at the Goody Shack bakery on Highway 59 just north of the overpass in Gravette. Hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday. Proceeds will help Cassie Estep finance her trip to Canada as a People to People Ambassador and help Summer Rose and Landyn Perrine raise money to go the Little Britches National Finals in Pueblo, Colo., this summer. Pancake Breakfast

A pancake breakfast fundraiser will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at the Gravette Fire Station. Cost for the meal will be $5 a person, with children 8 and under eating free. The menu for the meal, which will be cooked and served by Gravette's full-time firefighters and volunteers, will be pancakes, sausage, biscuits and gravy, coffee, orange juice and milk. Proceeds will go to the volunteer firefighters, to help them purchase uniforms and to send flowers to firefighters or family members who may be hospitalized.

Old Settlers Day

Old Settlers Day in Colcord, Okla., will be held on Saturday, June 6. Saturday events begin at 7:30 a.m. with a fundraising breakfast at the senior citizens' center. Beginning at 9 a.m., the Talbot Library and Museum in Colcord will open its annual book and bake sale to raise funds. The event will feature award-winning Western author Dusty Richards and local live music. In addition to baked goods, hamburger and hot dog dinners will be available at the museum for $5. Drawings for prizes are also on the agenda. Other events for the day include the Colcord Old Settlers Day Parade at 11 a.m. with lineup at 10 a.m. Anyone wishing to be in the parade is simply asked to be there and ready to line up at 10. A dinner and live music in the Colcord City Park begins at noon. The annual Colcord Rodeo will kickoff at the rodeo grounds (in the Rowe area) with mutton bustin' at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday nights. A Miss Colcord Rodeo pageant is also being planned.

Open Space Plan

The Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission is developing a Northwest Arkansas Regional Open Space Plan throughout 2015. This plan includes both Benton and Washington Counties. The purpose of the plan is to develop a coordinated, voluntary program to protect and promote the region's most valued natural landscapes and open spaces. The goal is to preserve these assets, thereby maintaining a high quality of life for residents as the region continues to grow and prosper. NWARPC is requesting help and guidance in creating the plan and getting input for the plan from the residents of the two counties. To help facilitate this, public workshops are scheduled for June 8-11. Meetings will be drop-in from 4-6:30 p.m. Meeting locations include the Gentry Public Library, 105 E. Gifted and Talented

Every year, Quest, the gifted and talented program in the Gentry School District, seeks nominations from students, parents and other interested parties for names of students who could benefit from the program. The Quest program seeks to identify and serve gifted and talented individuals who have special characteristics and learning styles and whose talent for accomplishment is such that they require special provisions, experiences and services not provided for in the regular instructional program. Students are admitted to this program based on three steps: nomination, screening and selection. Sulphur Springs Reunion

The annual Sulphur Springs school reunion will be held this year on Friday and Saturday, June 5 and 6. Activities will begin with a bean supper at 6 p.m. Friday at the old high school cafeteria. Andante Music Club

The Andante Music Club of Bella Vista will hold its regular monthly meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at the Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. in Bella Vista. The program will feature talented emerging artists from Opera of the Ozarks, located west of Eureka Springs, who will present excerpts from various operas which are scheduled to be part of the 2015 season. The summer schedule, which runs from June 19 through July 17 and includes Tales of Hoffmann, La Traviata and La Cenerentola (Cinderella). The public is invited and refreshments will be served following the presentations.

Highfill Food Pantry

Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It features locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at 12 noon on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome. The facility is three miles east of Decatur on Arkansas Highway 102 and right on Tilly's Hill Road.
