Decatur loses on road

DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldogs senior team traveled to Fort Smith Oct. 31 to play the Union Christian Eagles.

The Bulldogs took control of the first half on a pass to freshmen running back Tajae White to lead by seven. White would run for another touchdown in the second quarter to give Decatur a 14 to 0 lead. The Eagles scored a touchdown to make the game 14 to 6. Union Christian's two point conversion attempt was good making it a 14 to 8 game going into half time.

Rain fell in the second half, which lead to the Bulldogs allowing a touchdown and conversion, giving the Eagles a 16 to 14 lead. Decatur was unable to score again, making the final a 16-14 game in favor of Union Christian.

The Bulldogs are now 1 and 5 in conference and 1 and 7 overall going into their final game of the season.

The Decatur Bulldog varsity team travels to Magazine Nov. 6 to take on the Leftwich Rattlers. Game time will be 7 p.m.

Decatur Bulldog seventh-grade team took on the Unions Christian Eagles in a rare Monday night football game at Bulldog Stadium Oct. 26.

The game consisted of two 20-minute halves with a 5-minute intermission. With the seventh-grade teams, the coaches are allowed on the field to help the young players understand the rules and plays of football.

The Bulldogs scored first at around the halfway point in the first half on a 10-yard run by Roger Hernandez. A two point conversion attempt failed, giving the Bulldogs a 6 to 0 lead over the Eagles. Towards the end of the first half, Hernandez again found the end zone for another six. Decatur attempted another conversion, which also failed, making it 12 to 0 Bulldogs.

Union Christian came back to score six in the second half. The Eagles' attempt at a conversion was successful making it a 12 to 8 Decatur game. The Bulldog defense held the Eagles scoreless for the remainder of the second half and posted a 12 to 8 victory. This was the first win for the seventh-graders, ending their season on a high note.

The junior high team will play its last game of the 2015 season at home when they take on Magazine Leftwich Rattlers at Bulldog Stadium in Decatur on Nov. 5. Game time is 7 p.m.
