Council receives updates on town projects

SPRINGTOWN -- Council members in Springtown were updated on several local projects and passed a resolution revising the 2015 budget to reflect expenditures.

According to unapproved minute notes released by Shane Bauman, the town's treasurer-recorder, memorial signs for the Don Earley Memorial Bridge have been created and one will be installed at each side of the bridge.

Mayor Preston Barrett has contacted some electricians about installing timers on the park lights and adding a floodlight in the park, as well.

Mayor Barrett was also checking to see if the county would donate sand to be used for treating snow-packed and icy roads again this winter, as it did last year.

The town is still waiting on a response from Waste Management regarding the contract status of the trash service. The town has also received a bid from Republic Services.

The council passed a resolution revising the 2015 general budget.

The council discussed a revision to the building permit ordinance. The town's attorney will prepare a draft of the ordinance based on thoughts and comments shared by the council to bring back to the next council meeting.
