DECATUR -- While the shot didn't win the game for the Decatur Bulldog junior high team, it did get big cheers from the fans and players alike during the Decatur-West Fork matchup at Peterson Gym Nov. 12.

When Kelvin Moreno came off the bench early in the third quarter, it became clear that he was the shortest player on the court.

As he maneuvered his way around the court, his West Fork rival, not taking him seriously, gave Moreno a wide berth.

Suddenly, Moreno found himself in the right wing behind the three-point line, alone. He stopped and took the shot and it went through the net for three points.

Several members of the Decatur senior boys' basketball team started chanting, "Kelvin, Kelvin, Kelvin," in unison as Moreno took his defensive position on the other end of the court.

From that point on, the West Fork players took Moreno serious as he mixed it up with kids almost twice his size.

When Kelvin Moreno left the game a few minutes later, he became one of the unsung hero's of the first junior high game of the 2015-16 season.
