Yard Waste Pickup

The fall yard waste pickup in Gentry will be Wednesday, Dec. 2. Organic yard and garden refuse such as tree, shrub and brush trimmings, grass clippings, leaves and other plant material (but not tree limbs) must be bagged and placed next to the blue polycart at the curbside by 7 a.m. Pickup will be one day only.

Christmas Bazaar

The Decatur United Methodist Church will host its annual Christmas Bazaar on Friday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch will be soup, sandwich, dessert and beverage for $5. There will also be a bake sale, vendor tables and a "twice but nice" table to enjoy. Everyone is invited to join the church for great food and fellowship. All proceeds will go to local charities.

Christmas Lighting

The annual Gentry Christmas Lighting contest will be held this year for both residential and business properties. For residential properties, a first place prize of $100 in Gentry bucks will be awarded and a second place prize of $50 in Gentry bucks will also be given. In the business division, a first place prize of $100 will be given. Please call the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office at 479-736-2358 and leave your address to be sure your Christmas display is not missed in the judging. Judging will be done sometime the week prior to the annual Christmas parade on Dec. 12.

A Country Christmas

A Country Christmas is the theme of this year's Gentry Christmas Parade, scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, on Gentry's Main Street. Children will be able to visit with Santa Claus at the Chamber of Commerce building, 212 East Main Street, from 3 to 6 p.m. More information on the parade will be published as it becomes available.

Community Christmas

Highfill's Community Christmas is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, in the Highfill Community Building. The event will be a community potluck with the meat provided. There will be crafts for the children and prizes. Those attending are asked to bring new pajamas to be donated to the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter.

Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

New Food Pantry

Decatur United Methodist Church has a community food pantry open the first and third Thursday of each month. The only requirement for the pantry is that one live in the 72722 zip code area. An identification and a piece of mail showing one's residence in the Decatur area is required. There is also a USDA Commodity Program available which is income-based. Those wishing to do so can fill out an application to see if they qualify.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette and at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Imagine Before and After School Care, 206 Birmingham St. S.E. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
