GENTRY -- It was a beautiful evening in Pioneer Stadium as members of the 2015 Gentry High School homecoming court took their places on the field. The maids, in formal dresses, and their escorts, in football uniforms and carrying their helmets, were introduced, photographed and stood in their appointed places at midfield.
The senior maids were introduced:
"Senior class maid Brittney Atwood is escorted by junior Cole Cripps and senior Josh Cochran. Brittney is the daughter of Dave and Realene Atwood. Cole is the son of Eldon and Kaye Cripps. Josh is the son of Rusty and Carla Sikes and Gerald Cochran.
"Senior class maid Lexie Clark is escorted by senior Kruz Flesner and senior Dillon Matthews. Lexie is the daughter of Mike and Heather Clark. Kruz is the son of Kray and Theresa Flesner. Dillon is the son of Melvin and Shian Matthews.
"Senior class maid Erika Magana is escorted by senior Bryan Harris and senior Clayton "CJ" Taylor. Erika is the daughter of Marcos and Ofelia Magana. Bryan is the son of James and Charla Harris. CJ is the son of Leona Taylor and the late Clayton Taylor.
"Senior class maid Mekalah Ramsey is escorted by senior Jake Faulkenberry and senior Dylan Murphy. Mekalah is the daughter of Daniel and Melinda Ramsey. Jake is the son of Jon and Kim Faulkenberry. Dylan is the son of Bub and Carrie Murphy.
"Senior class maid Micah Stout is escorted by senior Zac Adkins and James Fell. Micah is the daughter of Katrena Wesson. Zac is the son of George and Kim Adkins. James is the son of Marty and Tracey Fell.
"Senior class maid Tori Vetor is escorted by junior Gavin Martin and senior Wyatt Clark. Tori is the daughter of Cindy Vetor and Mitch Vetor. Gavin is the son of Tamra Martin and Greg Martin. Wyatt is the son of Ricky and Nancy Clark and Beth and Dwayne Fox."
Then, the football captains, Jake Faulkenberry and Kaven Flesner, were announced and presented with a football to commemorate the evening.
And finally the much-anticipated announcement came, though it was not too much of a surprise to anyone but the new homecoming queen: "The 2015 GHS homecoming queen is ... Mekalah Ramsey."
And Mekalah, with a huge smile on her face, was led forward, crowned by Jake Faulkenberry and adorned with a royal robe by Kaven Flesner. And in keeping with tradition, she was kissed on the cheek by the two football captains.
It was a night of smiles and special memories for Mekalah and for her classmates at Gentry High School.
