Bulldogs pick up first conference win

DECATUR -- The Decatur Bulldogs traveled south to take on the Western Yell County Wolverines in Havana Oct. 16 in a conference match up.

The Bulldogs came into this game with a 0 and 2 conference record against the 0 and 4 Wolverines.

Decatur dominated the first half, scoring a touchdown in the first quarter, a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the second, to take a 14 to 0 lead going into the locker room.

The Bulldogs scored another 6 points in the third to extend their lead to 20. This would be the final score of the game since the Wolverines could not find the end zone. Decatur took the game, 20 to 0, giving the Bulldogs their first victory of the 2015 season. Decatur is now 1 and 2 in conference play and 1 and 5 overall.

The Bulldogs will play their final home game of the season Oct. 23 when they take on Hector. Game time is at 7 p.m., with senior-night festivities beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Decatur seventh grade and junior high teams had a much harder time against Western Yell County at Bulldog Stadium Oct. 15. The seventh grade defense managed to hold the Wolverines to only one touchdown and a conversion, losing the game 8 to 0.

It was a rough night for the Decatur junior high team as they had trouble finding the end zone. Western Yell had little trouble getting the ball across the goal line and they took the game, 28 to 0.

The Decatur Bulldog junior high team will travel to Hector for a 7 p.m. game Oct. 22.
