Gentry falls to Gravette in final season match

GRAVETTE -- After losing to Shiloh Christian in three straight sets, the Lady Lions came back to win their regular season finale against Gentry in three straight, though the last set was a close one.

The Lady Pioneers of Gentry traveled to Gravette on Thursday but couldn't quite stand up to the Lady Lions at the net. The Lady Lions took the first two sets, 25-10 and 25-12. The final set was much closer with the Lady Lions sinching the deal by two points, 25-23.

The tables were reversed on Oct. 13 when the Lady Lions traveled to Springdale to face the Lady Saints of Shiloh Christian. The Lady Saints held them in the single digits in all three sets and took the victory, 25-5, 25-9 and 25-7.

The Lady Lions finished their regular season 8 and 6 in conference play and 10 and 7 overall.

Misa Satchel led the Lady Lions in kills, with 67 for the season. Amanda Pinter had 56, Shannon McKnight had 54 and Stephanie Pinter had 46. McKnight led the Gravette girls at the serving line with 32 aces, follwed by Amanda Pinter with 26 and Misa Satchel with 25. Destiny Laymon led in ball handling with assists at 193.

The Lady Pioneers finished the regular season 2-11 in conference and 2-17 overall. A win was scored to Gentry on Oct. 13 when the Lady Lions were scheduled to host Lincoln.

District tournaments are being held this week in Gravette.
