Lady Bulldogs get back on winning track

DECATUR -- The Decatur junior and senior varsity volleyball teams returned to the winning track Oct. 14 as both teams claimed victory over the Charleston Tigers after coming off of a double loss to Lincoln on Oct. 12.

The Lady Bulldogs returned to Peterson Gym in Decatur for the final match of a four-game series with the Tigers.

First up was the junior varsity team, which quickly took control and dispatched Charleston in two straight sets, 2 to 0.

The senior high volleyball team did something that eluded it all season, win the first set of the match. The girls took the second set as well. Charleston mounted a comeback, taking the third set, 27 to 25. However, the Tigers struggled in the fourth, handing the Bulldogs their third set and the match, 3 to 1.

The Decatur senior varsity team is now 6 and 5 overall going into its final home game of the 2015 season on Oct. 19 when the girls face the Elkins Elks at Peterson Gym in Decatur. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. This will be senior night and the public is invited to attend the ceremony which will take place before the match.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Elkins on Oct. 22 for their final game of the 2015 season. Game time for this contest is also 4:30 p.m.
