GRAVETTE -- It was for the fun and connected with Gravette's homecoming events when the girls in Gravette High School's sophomore, junior and senior classes took to the gridiron on Saturday afternoon for a few games of friendly powder-puff football, but it was for a good cause, too.

After the sophomore girls defeated the juniors, they faced the seniors on Saturday for the championship game of the powder-puff tournament. The seniors scored twice before the sophomores got on the board, but then the seniors capped off their win in the final seconds with another touchdown, making the final score 28-7, to win the championship trophy.

But, in addition to the fun for both players and spectators, the event was used to raise money and provide food through two charitable organizations: Unicef and the Make a Wish Foundation. Cans of food were collected, too, at the admission gate.
