GRAVETTE -- The Gravette Public Library will host its 2015 Renaissance festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in Old Town Park. Festival attendees will be treated to a variety of attractions, with a small admission fee of only $1 per person. All guests are encouraged to wear period dress but costumes are not required.

Festival guests will walk across the drawbridge and through a castle backdrop painted by the Gravette High School art classes. Once in the lower area of Old Town Park, they will be able to visit many booths offering food, fun and entertainment. Several food vendors will be on hand, as well as booths offering many crafts, including stained glass, leather items and jewelry.

Children will be able to participate in jousting tournaments using pool noodles and can have their faces painted. A roving storyteller will be spinning his tales of early-day life. A photo booth will be available where people can dress in period costumes and have a souvenir picture made.

Birds of prey will be displayed by a falconer from Coweta, Okla. Other guests who have promised to attend include kings and queens, princesses, a Scottish nobleman, pirates and fairies. A stage will be set up where several musical groups will entertain, and a group of belly dancers are also scheduled. Entertainment will be provided by groups, including Elixir of Life, Turtle and the Hair, Jingly Bits and Terra Nova Tribal.

Library commission chair Steve Oler said he is still accepting applications for vendors. Anyone wishing to set up a booth at the festival may contact him by email at [email protected], come by to pick up a vendor application at the library, 497 Charlotte Street SE, or call 479-787-6955.
