Maysville Fire Department honored at dinner

MAYSVILLE -- Maysville Bible Church hosted a fire department appreciation dinner Saturday. Invited guests were the entire roster of the Maysville Volunteer Fire Department.

Church pastor James Whisenant said the purpose of the dinner was to honor the "men and women who volunteer their time to fight fires, bring aid to victims of auto accidents, respond to help search for people lost or separated from their loved ones and be first to make ready the way for those needing emergency medical care."

Department personnel, who stay ready 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, brought two fire trucks for display at the dinner. Prize drawings were held, and each firefighter received at least one gift. Three received coolers, two with a fire insignia and one without.
