— Police arrested a Gravette teacher Tuesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a Gravette High School student, according to a news release from the Bentonville Police Department.

Harry Almond, 62, of Bella Vista, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault. Almond teaches computer and business classes at Gravette High School, according to the release.

The release stated the assault took place at Almond's Bella Vista home but did not provide additional details.

Second-degree sexual assault includes a teacher using "his or her position of trust or authority over the victim to engage in sexual contact with a victim who is a student" and engaging in sexual contact through forcible compulsion, including physical force or the threat of physical force, according to the news release.

"This investigation fulfilled both these statutory requirements," the release stated.

Almond is listed as the 2014-15 executive director of the Arkansas Association for Career and Technical Education board.

State licensure records show he is certified to teach business technology, business education and middle school social studies.

A teacher page for Almond on the Gravette website said it is his 25th year at the school.

Messages for Gravette Superintendent Richard Page hadn’t been returned late Wednesday morning.
