Springtown closes alley, discusses park light and bridge signs

SPRINGTOWN -- The town council met Oct. 20, with the following items discussed: Mayor Preston Barrett is still looking into obtaining a light to add to the lighting in the city park. The town is still exploring trash service options with Waste Management or with other providers. The council authorized spending up to $250 for memorial signs to be placed on the Don Earley Memorial Bridge. Alderman Karee Barrett has been talking to a sign company and getting samples and discussing options. The council passed an ordinance to vacate an alley as requested by petition from several landowners. A required public hearing was held immediately before the town meeting but no one voiced any comments on the matter. The council passed a resolution setting the annual tax levy, with no changes from last year.
