Hiwasse Fall Festival set for Saturday

HIWASSE -- Hiwasse residents invite everyone in the area to come out Saturday and attend the popular Hiwasse Fall Festival. Events will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the festival location, 13680 Fire House Lane.

Free activities include inflatable rides and games for the kids and musical entertainment for all. Free snow cones, cookies and bottled water will also be available. The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center will be selling baked goods, and Kay Murray will be on hand to take family fall photos. Vendors from the Gravette Farmers' Market will be offering fresh vegetables and crafts.

Dinners will be served by the Bank of Gravett. The meal will include a hamburger, chips and a drink at a cost of $5 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds will benefit the Hiwasse Community Room.

A chili cook-off will be featured and those attending the festival may vote for their favorite pot of Hiwasse chili from 12 noon to 1 p.m. A payment of $2 will allow a person to sample all the cook-off entries. The reigning chili cook-off champion, Larry Weihe, will preside over the competition. The winning cook will receive a $50 prize.

A showcase of classic cars will be on display from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hiwasse Store.
