Fall cleanup set for Oct. 6 and Oct. 8

GRAVETTE -- The annual citywide fall cleanup is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Gravette and Thursday, Oct. 8, in Hiwasse. The two citywide cleanups each year provide citizens an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items that are normally too large for the regular city trash pickup service. Curbside pickup of large items will be available in each town on those days.

Citizens are asked to leave their items at the curb no more than a couple of days before the pickup date. A reminder was issued that lumber will be picked up only if it is no longer than 4 feet, is tied in a bundle and weighs less than 50 pounds.

Business director Patrick Hall asked that residents help ensure the future availability of this service by following the city's few simple guidelines.

Items which will not be accepted for pickup include paint, tires, batteries, chemicals, appliances, electronics and yard waste.

Citizens are reminded that limbs can be disposed of free at the city shop property on Plant Access Road in the west edge of town. Limbs may be delivered there Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
