Charter School Meeting

Gentry Public Schools will hold a Conversion Charter Informational Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 3, to discuss educational programing associated with the Conversion Charter application. The meeting will be held in the Pioneer Activity Complex (PAC Building) hospitality room, beginning at 6 p.m. All are invited to attend.

Circus in Decatur

The Kelly Miller Circus is coming to town in Decatur. To get a sneak peak of what to expect, visit the Iva Jane Peek Public Library on Monday, Oct. 5, from 3 to 4 p.m. A clown will perform a 30-minute skit, and there will be a drawing for two free child's tickets (one for a boy and one for a girl). The child's tickets are good for ages over 2 but under 12. For more information, call 479-752-3912.

GHS 10-year Reunion

Gentry High School Class of 2005's 10-year reunion is Oct. 2-3. On Friday, at 5:30 p.m., the class will meet for a dessert tailgate outside of the football stadium. Look for the "Class of 2005" banner. This will be potluck-style, so bring a favorite dessert to share and a chair to sit in. At 6:30 p.m. the homecoming ceremony begins. The Class of 2005 is encouraged to sit together in the stadium. Again, look for the "Class of 2005" banner. On Saturday, from 6 to 9 p.m., a class reunion dinner is planned at 28 Springs restaurant in Siloam Springs. This will be an adults-only event and an RSVP is necessary by purchasing a ticket by Sept. 26. For more information, tickets and to RSVP, email [email protected].

Bean Supper

A bean supper, sponsored by the Maysville EH Club, is planned for Saturday, Oct. 3, with serving to begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be a cake walk and delicious homemade deserts for sale. On Oct. 2-3, the club is also sponsoring a crafts and more sale, beginning at 9 a.m. each day. Proceeds will go toward the maintenance and upkeep of the Maysville Community Building in which the club meets and holds events.

Food Drive

Gentry High School has challenged Shiloh Christian to a DARE to CARE canned food drive between now and the Gentry-Shiloh football game on Oct. 16. Gentry schools will be collecting donations of non-perishable canned food items at any of the Gentry campus offices. Heritage Baptist Church

Chosen People Ministries will be at Heritage Baptist Church on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the 10 a.m. Sunday school and the 11 a.m. worship hour. Chosen People Ministries has been bringing the gospel of Jesus the Messiah to Jewish people for more than 100 years. The guest speaker will be presenting "Can These Dry Bones Live? (Israel in the last days: God's plan to redeem Israel). All are welcome and invited to join the members of Heritage Baptist for the special presentation.

Fall Round-Up

The annual Fall Round-Up, sponsored by the Springtown Seventh-day Adventist Church, will be held Oct. 1-3 and feature one of America's oldest gospel quartets and first-person dramatizations of Jesus' miracles. Dick Stenbakken will present first-person narratives depicting miracles of Jesus. Stenbakken will transform himself into the leper, blind man and others healed and touched by Jesus. The King's Heralds, in existence since 1927, the oldest continuous gospel quartet in America, will sing during Friday and Saturday Fall Round-Up meetings. The group will have a full concert on Saturday at 3 p.m. Fall Round-Up meetings will be held Thursday and Friday evenings, Oct. 1 and 2, at 7 p.m. Meetings and activities will take place all day Saturday, Oct. 3. Saturday highlights include a 10:45 a.m. worship service, 3 p.m. concert by The Kings Heralds, and a 6:30 p.m. meeting. Gravette Quilt Show

A quilt show, sponsored by the Gravette Historical Museum and the PieceMakers Quilt Club of Gravette, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Gravette Civic Center. Fifty quilts will be on display and vendors will be on hand offering quilting supplies and fabric. A quilt appraiser will be available to appraise quilts for a fee. Octoberfest Pageants

The Miss Octoberfest Pageants will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Gentry High School auditorium. This pageant is open to any and all participants from 0 months to 18 years of age, including divisions for boys from 0 months to 6 years of age. The 13-15 and 16-18 age divisions will have interviews beginning at 1 p.m. and compete in fitness and formal wear. Gravette Annuals Sought

A complete set of Gravette High School annuals is being sought for a collection at the Gravette Historical Museum. Annuals from the following years are still needed: 1950, 1952, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1967, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1981, 1984, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004 and 2007. Anyone having any of these annuals who would be willing to donate them may take them to the museum during open hours or call Lavon Stark, 479-787-5678.

Gentry Homecoming

Homecoming Week at Gentry High School is Sept. 28 through Oct. 2. Events will include a powder puff football game at 1 p.m. on Wednesday; a homecoming pep rally at 1:30 p.m. on Friday in Pioneer Stadium; a parade at 1 p.m. on Friday, with lineup at 12:30 at the high school -- the parade will end on Main Street. Elementary or middle school groups or organizations, alumni or community groups and organizations planning to be in the parade should contact Alishia Ramsey at [email protected] at the high school for further details. Homecoming night, Friday, Oct. 2, begins with the crowning of the king and queen at 6:30 p.m. Game time against Berryville is 7 p.m.

Maysville Food Pantry

CARE Satellite Pantry, in partnership with the Maysville Bible Church, is operating a food pantry at the church on the first Saturday of each month. Food is available for those in Benton County, Delaware County, Okla., and McDonald County, Mo. The next free food giveaway will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 3, at the church on Highway 72 east of the four way stop. Food boxes contain canned vegetables, pasta, cereal, rice, spices, health and beauty aids. Future food pantry dates will be on Nov. 7 and Dec. 5. Pickin' Time on 59

Pickin' Time on 59 will be held Oct. 8-10. The event will feature yard sales, collectibles and antiques and extend from the airport in Siloam Springs through Gentry, Decatur, Gravette, Sulphur Springs and to the Missouri-Arkansas line. All residents and businesses are encouraged to set up booths, sales, activities and events. Any vendors who wish to participate in the Gravette area may set up booths in the old Marvin's parking lot. This is open to all vendors but no cars for sale are allowed. Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Farmers' Market

The Gravette Farmers' Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Town Park, 110 Park Drive, in Gravette. It features locally-grown produce, flowers, meats and more.

Gentry Farmers' Market

Gentry's farmers' market is held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Main Street Pavilion located next door to the Chicken Coop flea market, at 500 E. Main Street, Gentry. For more information on the market, call 479-871-1052. Farmers may register for space and sell there on those days without charge.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
