Police report domestic violence, drug arrests

GENTRY -- Police arrested Jerry Ball, 59, of Gentry, on Friday in connection with domestic battery in the second degree, a Class C felony alleged to have occurred late on Thursday.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, Ball is alleged to have slapped his wife in the face, accused her of having an affair, punched her in the face and struck her in the head with a .22 caliber rifle, breaking the rifle's stock and bolt. Alcohol was alleged to have been involved in the incident.

The affidavit states that Ball admits to drinking, accusing his wife of an affair and said he must have punched his wife in the face but didn't remember doing it. He also said he couldn't remember hitting his wife with the rifle but "may have because it (the rifle) was broken."

On Friday, Ball was being held in the Benton County Jail in connection with the incident. Bond had not been set, according to the Benton County Jail log, but the affidavit recommended bail be set at $7,000 and that a "no-contact order" with the victim be issued should Ball be released.

On Sept. 17, shortly after midnight, Gentry police arrested Greg Mollica, 46, of Gentry, in connection to misdemeanor domestic battery in the third degree and felony terroristic threatening in the first degree which occurred during the night-time hours of Sept. 16.

According to police reports, Mollica is alleged to have thrown a plastic ornament at his live-in girlfriend, causing a cut and bruise on her arm. He is also alleged to have picked up a grinding stone and chased his girlfriend through the house with it, causing her to fear he would hit her in the head with the stone. He allegedly left the trailer before the police arrived and was not found.

After police left, he is alleged to have returned to the trailer home, attempted to punch his girlfriend and threatened to kill her.

When police returned, Mollica was arrested and is alleged to have said his girlfriend just made up the accusations against him.

Police also arrested Dennis Brazil, 41, of Siloam Springs, last week on a warrant from Siloam Springs and in connection with being in possession of marijuana and a marijuana pipe.

According to police, they questioned a companion of Brazil's at the parking lot of the Eagle Watch Nature Trail when they noticed them looking for something under the bridge there. When police received confirmation of a warrant for Brazil, they went to the companion's home and arrested Brazil. In an inventory of Brazil's vehicle, marijuana and the marijuana pipe were found, according to police.

Brazil was charged with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
