Lions falter after big win over Wolves

GRAVETTE -- After beating Lincoln on March 29, the Lions lost to Prairie Grove on Thursday and to Grove (Okla.) on Saturday.

The Lions were up by seven before the Wolves plated their first run in the third and, though the Wolves picked up another two runs in the fifth, the Lions added another four in the top of the seventh to ensure a big win, 14-3.

A two-run single by Kilby Roberts in the first inning put the Lions on the board. And an RBI single by Bryce Moorman, a three-run double by Roberts and an RBI single by Trey Nunnally all helped Gravette take control of the game in the second.

Roberts had five RBIs in the game. Jace Russ had two.

Trey Nunnally started on the mound, with Hunter Cole and Dalton Cook finishing things up for the Lion defense.

On Thursday, the Lions hosted the Tigers from Prairie Grove and big innings in the third and the sixth gave the Tigers the victory, 9-6.

Brady Rolsma got on base three times, scored two runs and had an RBI for Gravette. He singled in the fifth.

Kilby Roberts, Hunter Cole and Trey Nunnally all pitched for Gravette.

Gravette scored a single run in the bottom of the fifth when Bryce Moorman singled to center field and brought in Jace Russ, who had doubled with a ground ball to first.

Brady Rolsma and Dalton Cook pitched for Gravette in the game. Rolsma pitched just over five innings and struck out four.
