GENTRY -- The old home located on the corner of Collins and S. Second in Gentry was demolished last week, with the scrap being hauled away. The house dated back to about the 1930s, according to Don Evans, owner of the house and lot.

Evans said he had the house torn down because of the costs which would have been involved to repair the old home. He estimated that the home was built in the 1930s with the rock siding added in the 1940s.

According to Evans, the home was originally owned by Clem Test, a Gentry mail carrier. It was the childhood home of Francis (Test) Bolin, the late wife of Roy Bolin of Gentry.

Evans said he has not decided what he will do with the lot, adding that he could sell it or build a small house there.

"I just haven't decided yet," he said.
