Lions come back after loss to Pea Ridge

GRAVETTE -- After falling to Pea Ridge on Monday, April 4, the Lions defeated Cedarville on Tuesday, Berryville on Thursday and Greenland on Friday.

Gravette 8

Eight runs wasn't nearly enough to stop the Blackhawks when they visited Gravette on April 4. The Blackhawks jumped ahead in the first and never relinquished their lead in the game. The Lions picked up solo runs in each inning except the third, when they scored two; but the Blackhawks scored three runs in both the first and second innings, five in the third and another four in the seventh.

Pea Ridge managed to score 15 runs on 14 hits, with Gravette picking up only eight runs on 13 hits.

Gravette 7

Cedarville 0

Hunter Cole pitched seven innings for Gravette and shut out Cedarville. He struck out six, allowed five hits and no runs in the game.

The Lions scored a run in the first when Jackson Soule' walked and made it home on a Kilby Roberts sacrifice ground ball to second.

In the fourth, Brady Moorman singled and made it home on a Dylan Gruver single to left field. Bryce Moorman, who had walked, also scored. Soule' singled and later made it home on a passed ball.

In the fifth, Brady Mooman drove in Hunter Cole and a Jackson Soule' double to left brought in Kenton Tajchman and Moorman.

Gruver and Soule' each had two RBIs in the game. Hunter Cole pitched for the Lions and struck out six.

Gravette 21

Berryville 1

The Gravette Lions made quick work of the Bobcats when they traveled to Berryville on Thursday. Berryville scored a run in the second. Gravette scored four in the first, five in the second, 10 in the third and two in the fifth for the 21-1 win in five innings.

Brady Rolsma, Luke Summerford, Bryce Moorman, Allen Billy, Bailey Soule' and Kenton Tajchman all picked up doubles in the game. Brady Rolsma also hit a triple.

Kilby Roberts pitched and struck out six.

Gravette had 20 hits in the game, and Berryville only six.

Gravette 6

Greenland 4

It was a close game in Greenland on Saturday until the Lions picked up two runs in the top of the seventh and shut down the Pirates in the bottom of the inning to bring home the 6-4 win.

Jace Russ singled in the sixth and then scored on a passed ball. Brady Rolsma singled to the shortstop and later made it home on a first base error to seal the victory.

Gravette had six runs on nine hits. Greenland had four runs on six.

Dylan Gruver and Brady Rolsma hit triples in the game. Rolsma, Jackson Soule' and Luke Summerford had RBIs.

Rolsma and Trey Nunnally pitched in the game.
