— It comes as no surprise that Mallory Morris, a senior at Gentry High School, would continue her running career in college. She came into high school running and is going out on a running scholarship.

Morris signed a letter of intent on Friday to attend Arkansas Tech University and participate in the school's cross country and track programs there. Morris, together with her parents, Tony and Regina Morris, signed the letter in the Gentry High School Pioneer Activities Complex in front of fellow students, family members, friends and her high school coaches.

Displayed on the table where she signed were a number of her plaques and awards, including being all-state runner in girls' cross country in 2012-2013, school record setter in the 800-meter in 2013, all-conference cross country in 2013, girls' all-state track champion in the 800-meter run in 2012-2013, all-conference runner of the year in 2014, 4-A 800-meter state runner up in 2014, all-conference and all-state runner of the year in 2014, state champion and school record setter in 2015 for 800-meter race and the 1600- and 3200-meter relay, and all-conference and all-state runner of the year in 2015.

And on Friday afternoon, Morris did it again, taking first in the 800-meter run and second in the 400. She also took first in the triple jump and helped the Gentry girls take second in the 4x400-meter relay.
