Sam Roth signs with Rockhurst University

— Samantha Roth, a senior at Gravette High School, signed a letter of intent last Wednesday morning to play women's lacrosse at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Mo.

Samantha, known as Sam by her family and friends, has been playing lacrosse with the Northwest Arkansas Lacrosse Club. She is a member of the Black Diamonds and has played all positions on the team. She has also been playing for the Kansas City Blue Lions for the past year. She has been traveling to Kansas City to play and get exposure with this team which has been instrumental in her success in the sport.

Roth was awarded the Danny Brewer scholarship in junior high for exemplary leadership and character. She has also received an athletic scholarship and an Opportunity Grant from Rockhurst University. She has attended Gravette schools since fourth grade, participates in many activities at school and is on the AB honor roll. She has been involved with basketball, track and drama and has been a cheer mascot, an office aide and school ambassador in junior high.

Sam is the daughter of Shane and Mendy Roth of Gravette and granddaughter of Cyndi and Corby Bradt of Bella Vista, Eileen and Dennis Pierson of Carthage, Mo., and Darrell Greenwood of Lamar, Mo. Her sister Mykala is an eighth grader in Gravette schools and her brother Max is a sixth grader.

Sam's parents attended her signing, along with several other family members, friends and school principals. Her mother expressed special thanks to coaches, players, family and friends who helped her make this event a reality.

"Sam is a high spirited individual who never meets a stranger. She loves seeing and helping others succeed and reach their goals," Mendy Roth said. "We are so excited for her future at Rockhurst University. Go, Hawks!"
