GRAVETTE -- The annual Gravette Day parade will be held this year at 12 noon on Saturday, Aug. 13. The theme for Gravette Day 2016 is "Just a Kid from Gravette," and parade entries are expected to reflect that theme and focus on the many kids from Gravette who have gone on to great accomplishments.

"The day will highlight kids of Gravette from the past, kids of the present and the opportunities of the future," according to Heather Finley, Gravette Day committee chairman.

Representative Kim Hendren has been chosen as the grand marshal of this year's parade.

Parade lineup will begin at 11:15 a.m. An attendant will be stationed at the intersection of Arkansas Highway 59 and Charlotte Street to assist with the lineup. The parade will begin at noon and entries will proceed north from Charlotte Street on Highway 59 to Main Street, then follow Main Street to Sixth Avenue, N.E., where the parade will disband.

Gravette police cars and area police and emergency vehicles will head up the parade, followed by the Gravette High School marching band and GHS cheerleaders. Parade grand marshal Kim Hendren, Miss Gravette and Miss Teen Gravette contestants will ride in the parade, followed by alumni floats from various school classes which have graduated at Gravette High School. Floats entered by area civic groups and businesses will follow and, finally, horse-drawn floats and horseback riders will conclude the parade.

Everyone young and old is invited to come out for the parade and view the colorful parade entries. Youngsters might even want to bring along a bag to catch some of the goodies thrown from the floats.

Parade entry forms are available on the city of Gravette website and should be returned to the city or to Heather Finley at [email protected].
