— Despite the hot, steamy weather following a rain shower earlier in the day, about 100 guests attended the fourth annual library gala and auction Saturday evening at the Barn at Big Springs on Beaty Road. Many were clad in Western wear to reflect the gala's "Barn Buster" theme.

Tables were covered in bright primary colors of red, blue and yellow with burlap runners and accents of red bandanas. Centerpieces were rustic lanterns and bouquets of yellow mums and baby's breath in containers decorated with burlap, lace and red star-studded ribbon.

Guests enjoyed food prepared by Cherokee cook Mike Shotpouch. The menu featured green salad, fried pork, potato wedges, brown beans and frybread. Assorted fruit cobblers and a special gala cake decorated with a red barn and farm animals were served for dessert. Desserts were baked by The GoodyShack bakery.

Guests were welcomed by Kim Schneider, library manager, and Gravette mayor Kurt Maddox. They thanked all who attended and everyone who worked hard to make the gala a success.

Cloggers from Jodi Moore's Dynamic Rhythm dance studio performed several numbers early in the evening. Musical entertainment followed by Trey O'Dell, singer-songwriter from Fayetteville who was a finalist on season 10 of NBC's singing competition show, "The Voice." O'Dell sang and played his guitar, performing country and popular tunes including "That's All Right, Mama," the Elvis hit he recorded in 2014 at Sun Studios in Nashville.

Auctioneer David Barber, of Barber Auction Service in Sulphur Springs, auctioned off a number of quality items donated by area businesses. Bidding was lively on many items, which included a barbecue grill, wide-screen TV, DVD player, a George Foreman grill, collectible coins, a La-Z-Boy ottoman, Daisy BB gun and canvas art print. A Crescent hotel stay, tickets to Silver Dollar City and Branson attractions were also auctioned. $1,400 was raised in the auction.
