Gravette public forum planned Thursday

An open public forum will be held immediately preceding the Gravette City Council committee of the whole meeting Thursday, Aug. 11. Further input is requested on the proposed Main Street revitalization project. Updated drawings of the project will be on display. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Gravette City Hall.

Decatur Youth Soccer

registration underway

Fall soccer registration for Decatur Youth Soccer is going on now. Forms are available at the Decatur Middle School office or by contacting Rose at 479-586-6706, Stacy 479-790-7171 or Amy at 479-790-5774. The fee will be $50. Sponsorships may be available upon request and approval. Anyone willing to sponsor a child is asked to call as well.

'Movie Night' on bill

The Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church invites all to join members for "Movie Night" at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 10, in the fellowship hall behind the main church building, to watch a movie and enjoy snacks. There is no cost to the public.

Open house scheduled

at Gentry Schools

An open house for students and parents has been scheduled for the Gentry School District campuses on the following dates: Primary School (grades K-2) -- Aug. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m.; Intermediate School (grades 3-5) -- Aug. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. The first day of school for students is Aug. 15.

Baked potato supper

on fundraiser menu

The Billy V. Hall Senior Activity Center will hold a baked potato supper fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. Servings of baked potato, toppings, dessert and beverage will be at the Center, 1870 Limekiln Road in Gravette. Cost of the meal is $8, and proceeds will benefit the center's Meals on Wheels program that serves Gravette, Decatur, Sulphur Springs, Hiwasse and Maysville. Takeouts will be available.

GHS class of 1946

to gather Saturday

The Gravette High School Class of 1946 will hold its 70th anniversary reunion on Saturday, Aug. 13. The class will meet for the pancake breakfast at the school cafeteria between 8 and 9 a.m. Class members will then visit the Gravette Historical Museum and attend the Gravette Day Parade. The class will meet for lunch and fellowship at 1 p.m., at the home of Kenneth and Erma Blackburn, 2445 W. Centerton Blvd., Centerton. RSVP by calling 417-527-3975.

Highfill breakfast set first Saturday of each quarter

First Baptist Church of Highfill will hold a men's fellowship breakfast on the first Saturday of each quarter at 8 a.m. All adult and youth men are welcome. For information, call 479-233-0242.

Gravette farmers' market open Saturdays

Gravette farmers' market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Old Town Park. Offerings include locally-grown fruits and vegetables, beef and pork, eggs, a variety of plants, baked goods, jams and jellies. Local crafts are also featured. Market vendors set up booths in the covered pavilion at the park.

Gentry farmers' market open three days a week

The farmers' market in Gentry is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at the south side (along Arkansas 12) parking area of Gentry City Park. Farmers may set up between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesdays, 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Decatur farmers' market open on Thursdays

The Decatur Farmers' Market will continue operations at the Decatur Coop True Value Hardware store parking lot every Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. Homegrown fruits and vegetables, canned goods and handmade crafts are available for purchase. Highfill Food Pantry open twice a month

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry is open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Maysville pantry

distributes food monthly

A free food distribution is held the first Saturday of each month at the Maysville Bible Church, Arkansas 72 and Cunningham, in Maysville. Anyone who is in need of food is welcome to attend.

Decatur food pantry

open twice a month

Decatur United Methodist Church has a community food pantry open the first and third Thursday of each month. The only requirement for the pantry is that one live in the 72722 zip code area. An identification and a piece of mail showing one's residence in the Decatur area are required. A USDA commodity program is available which is income-based. Those wishing to do so can fill out an application to see if they qualify.

Lions Club meetings held in Gravette and Gentry

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday and the third Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas 59 North in Gravette. The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis Club plans breakfast meetings

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion meets third Tuesday of month

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing services slated

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn.

Decatur VFW meetings first Tuesday of month

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.

NAGS to Meet Aug. 22

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, at the Bentonville Public Library. The program will be "The Cherokee Trail of Tears - Background and Routes through Arkansas" presented by John McLarty, president of the Arkansas Trail of Tears Chapter. He was the assistant director for the Northwest Arkansas Planning Commission until his retirement and utilizes computer mapping strategies to research historic routes in Arkansas.
