Vaughn EH Club begins new year

WESTSIDE -- The Vaughn Extension Homemakers Club started out its new year on August 3 with a meeting at the Vaughn Presbyterian Church with 11 members and one guest attending. It was decided to adopt CORE (Community OutReach Extension) as the club's yearly service project. This is a nonprofit group that gives out non-food items in northwest Arkansas towns including Gravette. Members brought 30 bottles of shampoo to donate. Next month members will bring toothbrushes.

Members were reminded of the county fair the following week. The Vaughn club put up an educational exhibit on "Turn Around -- Don't Drown."

The program was given by Chick Reid on "Drying Foods." She showed several examples of foods she had dried and encouraged members to try drying instead of just canning or freezing.
