SouthArk Outdoor Expo to hold first car show

EL DORADO — The 18th Annual SouthArk Outdoor Expo will host the event’s first car show on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The car show is sponsored by Teague Auto Group and Trotter Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram.

“This is the first time ever doing this and we are very excited,” said Cynthia Reyna, Director of Foundation and External Funding at South Arkansas Community College. “We are thankful for our sponsors to make this happen.”

Vehicle classes will include antique, muscle, modern domestic, modern import, modern muscle car, street rod, stock, 4x4/SUV and trucks.

Each entrant will receive a free T-shirt. There will also be a “Best of Show” specialty award.

Cars will be judged on cleanliness (most important); amount of time and effort an owner went through to get the vehicle ready to show; and presentation, which encourages creativity in how an owner shows the vehicle. Vehicles can be stock or modified.

Judges will not touch the cars or open doors, hoods, or windows.

The registration form should be located on the driver’s side dash, and be visible through the windshield. Convertible tops may be up and down; the hood should be open; windows need to be down; and trunks should be left on cars that have it.

Contestants are encouraged to pre-register online. Pre-registration ends the day before the event. Contestants can also signup on the morning of the Expo beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The entry fee is $25 for the first vehicle and $5 for each additional car.

On the day of the Expo, contestants should enter at the corner of Cedar & Cleveland Streets on the northwest side of the Bancorp South parking lot. They should look for “car show” signage.

The Car Show will be at the El Dorado Conference Center, located at 311 South West Ave.

Admission to the SouthArk Outdoor Expo is 1 canned or packaged food item per person. Apex Redi-Mixed Concrete is the sponsor of this year’s event.
