Gentry School Board seeking candidates to fill Zone 2 post

GENTRY -- The school board in Gentry will be accepting letters of application for a soon-to-be-vacant school board seat representing Zone 2 of the Gentry School District. Zone 2 is that portion of the district which lies east of Arkansas Highway 59 and north of Arkansas Highway 12.

Dani Cypert, who currently holds the seat, decided not to seek re-election to another five-year term on the board. No one else filed for the post and, when her term expires in September, Cypert could have continued to serve until the post came up for election again but, instead, she submitted a letter of resignation dated Aug. 16 and effective Sept. 20.

With the filing period past and Cypert not wishing to continue serving on the board, the board is seeking to fill the seat by appointment and will consider letters of application from residents living within Zone 2 who are willing to serve on the Gentry School Board.

The post is not a paid position and does require nine hours of training in the first 15 months and six hours each year thereafter, but the post is an important one because it represents the people of Zone 2 in determining the course of the Gentry School District.
