Though not a part of every induction, Alberty’s eyes were covered and then uncovered, symbolizing the gift of sight the club helps to provide in the communities it serves. Lions Club members from Gravette, Bella Vista, Siloam Springs, Centerton and Bentonville were present at the Gentry meeting. Meetings are held in the McKee Community Room at the Gentry Public Library at 6:30 p.m. on the forth Monday of each month.

— Members of the Gentry Lions Club and neighboring clubs in Siloam Springs, Gravette, Centerton, Bella Vista and Bentonville welcomed a new member to the Gentry club at the regular Gentry meeting on Monday, Aug. 22.

Received into membership was Kimberly Alberty. Kimberly Parton was also scheduled to be received but was unable to be present.

Former district governor Ken Swanson conducted the induction ceremony following a special meal in honor of new members. Alberty was blindfolded when led to the front of the community building at the library and then the blindfold was removed for her induction. The unique induction method was used to illustrate the work the Lions Club does to give sight to those who are blind or in need of glasses or other sight-improving technology.

The Gentry club meets in the McKee Community Room at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month. Visitors are welcome.
