GRAVETTE -- Two tractor-trailer rigs collided just south of Gravette on Arkansas Highway 59 Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 23, causing the highway to be closed for hours while the accident was worked and a spilled load of dog food was being cleaned up.

Traffic was diverted around the closed highway and many local residents were forced to use backroads to get to and from Gravette.

Arkansas State Police said a truck hauling dog food from the Simmons plant was northbound and rolled, with the top of the trailer striking a southbound Crete Carrier truck and causing it to go off the other side of the road.

The highway was closed for hours while the spilled load of dog food was cleaned up and the overturned trucks were removed.
