Gentry forensics team competes at Russellville

Little takes first in humorous interpretation

GENTRY -- On Friday and Saturday, Nov. 18 and 19, the Gentry forensics team competed at a forensics tournament at Russellville High School in Russellville, with Colton Little taking first in humorous interpretation.

The members who broke into semi-final rounds were Rebecca Brown and Colton Little, seniors; Haylee Pyburn, a junior; and Nicole Guntharp, a sophomore. Brown advanced in the prose category; Little, in humorous interpretation; Brown and Little, Pyburn and Guntharp advanced together in duo interpretation. Brown and Little advanced to the finals round, with Brown placing fourth place in prose and Little winning first place in humorous interpretation.

"It was an honor to compete against such awesome and talented people, and that is something I have been excelling at for years now," Little said. "I competed with a humorous interpretation piece that I found and prepared a week before the tournament. It was tough, but I could definitely relate to the piece I was performing," he said.

"Winning first place is not a new feeling for me, but it's by far one that I never get tired of," Little remarked. "[I'm] glad that my team came and supported me! [I'm] looking forward to the rest of the season."
