COLCORD (Okla.) -- Trouble continued for the Decatur Lady Bulldogs as they lost four more games this week, one of which was a conference game.

The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Kingston Dec. 6 to take on the Lady Yellowjackets in their first game in the 1A Northwest conference. Kingston proved to much for Decatur and took an overwhelming victory, 58 to 22, giving the Lady Bulldogs their first loss in the 2016 conference race.

The Lady Bulldogs traveled across the Oklahoma border to participate in the Colcord Hoopfest 2016 at Hornet Arena in Colcord Dec. 8-10. Decatur's first opponent was the host team, the Colcord Lady Hornets, on Dec. 8. The Lady Bulldogs grabbed the lead early but were unable to maintain it for long. The Hornets' defense overwhelmed Decatur's offense throughout the remainder of the contest. Colcord claimed the victory, 47 to 18.

It was much the same for the remaining two contests of the tournament. The Vinita junior varsity Lady Hornets took the victory (score not available).

It was a different story during the Westville-Decatur matchup. The Lady Bulldogs held the Lady Yellowjackets to only three points during the first four minutes of the opening quarter. A two-point shot pulled Decatur to within one midway through the quarter. The Lady Yellowjackets picked up the pace and effectively shut down the Lady Bulldogs offense for the remainder of the quarter, taking a 10 to 2 lead going into the start of the second quarter. Westville's offense continued to dominate Decatur throughout the remaining eight minutes of the first half, taking a 28-point lead into the locker room at half time. The Lady Bulldogs tried to come back late in the fourth quarter but it proved too little, too late. The Westville Lady Yellowjackets took the win, 48 to 12.

The Lady Bulldogs will finish out the first part of the season with their second conference game against the Alpena Leopards at Peterson Gym in Decatur on Dec. 13 and at Union Christian in Fort Smith on Dec. 16. Games start at 5:30 p.m.
