Pioneers overcome by Tiger attack

GENTRY — The Pioneers came up short on Friday night against the visiting Tigers from Prairie Grove, with the Tigers gaining the upper hand in the opening quarter and building on that lead throughout the game until things were sewed up in the fourth.

It was 17-15 at the end of the opening quarter, 36-27 at the half, 50-33 at the end of three and 71-55 at the end of regulation play.

Cole Cripps led Gentry in scoring with 15, with half those points coming in the final quarter. Evan Folker had 12 and Dylan Kilgore, 10.

Shiloh Christian 62

Led by Cole Cripps, with 24 points, and Evan Folker, with 23, the Pioneers were able to get by the Saints from Shiloh Christian on Saturday and pick up a win, 70-62.

Pea Ridge 71

Gentry 65

The Blackhawks pulled ahead early and had a 35-23 lead at the half, but the Gentry Pioneers fought back and almost took the game, finishing up just a few points short and losing to Pea Ridge, 71-65, on Dec. 6 in Gentry. Cole Cripps finished with 23 points in the game. Ethan Hammond had 14 and Logan Linton had 10.
