Women charged in ring theft

GENTRY -- Police obtained arrest warrants for Cony Sosa, 31, in connection with felony theft of lost or mislaid property, and for Besy Pineda, 36, in connection with felony theft by receiving.

According to probable cause affidavits, an employee's wedding ring was taken from a bathroom at the Gentry Dollar General Store in December and an attempt to sell the ring to a Siloam Springs pawn shop occurred in January.

According to the affidavit, Sosa admitted finding the ring in the restroom and is alleged to have taken the ring and given it to Pineda, who then allegedly attempted to sell the ring for money in order to pay the rent. Both are charged with Class D felonies.

Police are also investigating two commercial burglaries and thefts which occurred at the laundromat on Gentry's Main Street. The first occurred about Feb. 4 and the second on or about Feb. 18. Cash was stolen and damage done at the laundromat.

Anyone with information on the laundromat burglaries is asked to call the Gentry Police Department at 479-736-8400.
