Emergency repairs being made to reopen county roads

BENTON COUNTY --The following release from Jeff Clark, administrator of public services at the Benton County Road Department, was received by the Eagle Observer Thursday (too late for last week's issue) regarding initial road repair work as result of the recent heavy rains and flooding.

"The men and women of the Benton County Road Department have been hard at work providing emergency, temporary repairs to roads damaged by the recent flood. Over 50 roads had damage significant enough to cause closure, and all but a few roads are now passable due to the emergency repairs completed by the Department.

"Residents and businesses are reminded that these repairs are emergency and temporary. Repairs were the bare minimum work needed to reopen the road. Additional repairs will continue over the coming weeks, as flood waters recede and damage assessments continue to be made and refined.

"If your roadway has suffered damage and you do not think a road crew or assessment team has documented, please report it to the Road Department during normal office hours at (479) 271-1052 or to the Disaster Information Center at (479) 271-1094.

"The Road Department would like to thank the community for the support and damage information given to them over the past week, and looks forward to a safe work schedule in 2016 as they work collaboratively with other Benton County departments, state and federal agencies, and the citizens and businesses of the County."
