Project Prom Chili Supper

Gravette High School Project Prom Chili Supper Fundraiser will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Gravette competition gym during the Gentry-Gravette basketball game. Serving will begin at 4:30 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. or whenever the food runs out. Chili will be $3 a bowl. Desserts and drinks will be sold separately. There will be all types of chili -- deer chili, mild and hot chili -- made by some of the best cooks in Gravette. To go containers will be available for those who want to grab some and go. All funds raised will go to support Project Prom, a fun, drug- and alcohol-free, chaperoned event that gives students a safe alternative after the prom.

Gentry Quilt Show

The Gentry Chamber of Commerce quilt show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 22-29 in the McKee Community Room at the Gentry Public Library. McKee Foods is again sponsoring the annual show. To enter a quilt in the show, contact Janie Parks on Facebook or download applications at the Gentry Chamber of Commerce website. Applications are also available at Gentry City Hall and the Gentry Chamber of Commerce office. Applications need to be in by Jan. 18. Gentry Story Time

Gentry Public Library will hold Story Time with Grandma Betty each Friday, beginning on Jan. 15. Grandma Betty will read aloud children's favorite books from 2 to 3 p.m. in the children's area of the library. Parents are encouraged to read to their children from an early age to help them learn new words and what those words mean and to improve listening skills as children prepare for entry into school. Sanctity of Human

Life Sunday

The Pioneer Church of God (Holiness) will be holding a Sanctity of Human Life Sunday event at 11 a.m. on Jan. 17. This service is set aside to focus on the intrinsic value of human life, including the life of unborn children. The church is located just north of the Gentry police station, at 104 North Collins. Baseball-Softball Signup

Gravette Summer Baseball and Softball League registration is underway and players may be registered online and fees paid with a credit or debit card at www.leaguelineup.com/gravette. A $3 fee will be added to cover the fee charged for processing. Registration and payment may also be completed in person at Gravette Middle School (in the old gym) on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Boys must be ages 4-16 as of May 1, 2016, and Girls ages 4-16 as of Jan. 1, 2016. Registration fee for all ages is $35. Maximum family fee is $100. After Jan. 31 there will be a $10 late charge per player. Signups are needed by Jan. 31 to guarantee a spot on a team. Tryouts will be held in February. Umpires and volunteer coaches may sign up online at http://www.leaguelineup.com.

Travel Team Signup

GED Classes

Free GED classes will be held at the Gravette Public Library from 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, Jan. 20, and continuing through May 13. Classes are open enrollment, so students may enroll anytime and finish when they are ready. Come by the library, 407 Charlotte Street, S.E., to enroll or call 479-986-6911.

C.O.R.E. Giveaway

The C.O.R.E. giveaway will be held at 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month at the Civic Center in Gravette. Personal items and some food will be given away and everyone is welcome. The first giveaway will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16.

Highfill Food Pantry

The Highfill United Methodist food pantry is open from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month. For more information, call the church at 479-736-1275.

Maysville Food Pantry

Maysville Bible Church is sponsoring a monthly food giveaway which is held the first Saturday of each month. The next giveaway will be from 9 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, Feb. 6, at the church. The only qualification to receive food is to answer the question, "Do you need food?" No proof of income is needed.

New Food Pantry

Decatur United Methodist Church has a community food pantry open the first and third Thursday of each month. The only requirement for the pantry is that one live in the 72722 zip code area. An identification and a piece of mail showing one's residence in the Decatur area is required. There is also a USDA commodity program available which is income-based. Those wishing to do so can fill out an application to see if they qualify.

Lions Club

Gravette Lions Club meets at noon on the first Tuesday of every month at the In-Zone Restaurant on Arkansas Hwy. 59 N. in Gravette and at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at Imagine Before and After School Care, 206 Birmingham St., S.E., The Gentry Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of the month at the McKee Community Room in Gentry Public Library. New members are welcome and invited.

Gravette Kiwanis

The Gravette Kiwanis Club holds breakfast meetings at 7 a.m. each Friday at the cafeteria in Ozarks Community Hospital. Guests are welcome.

Gravette Legion

Gravette American Legion Post 25 meets at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at the Civic Center. All veterans are encouraged to attend.

Singing Services

Monthly singing services at Mason Valley Baptist Church Activity Center are held at 7 p.m. the second Friday of each month. The church is located on Arkansas Hwy. 12, between Highfill and Vaughn. Everyone is invited.

Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p.m., the first Friday of each month. The church is located northwest of Gentry and west of Decatur on Falling Springs Road.

Decatur VFW Meetings

VFW Post 9834 meets at 7 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. New members and guests are welcome.
