Contestants sought for Gravette Day pageants

— Contestants are now being sought for nine pageants which will be held during the afternoon on Gravette Day, Saturday, August 13.

Nine separate pageants, for entrants up to age 21, will be held as a part of the Gravette Day activities. These pageants are Pretty Baby, 0-11 months; Tiny Tot, 12-23 months; Little Miss Toddler, 2-3 years; Little Miss Petite, 4-5 years; Little Miss, 6-7 years; Miss Tween, 8-10 years; Miss Preteen, 11-13 years; Miss Teen Gravette, 14-16 years; and Miss Gravette, 17-21 years.

Pageants will begin at 3 p.m. and continue through 7 p.m. on the main stage in Kindley Park.

Miss Gravette contestants must live in the Gravette School District and either be enrolled at Gravette Public Schools or be home schooled the prior semester. GHS graduates may compete as long as they are under 21. Contestants must have never been married. They are required to ride in the Gravette Day parade at noon. They will be featured at two separate competitions on the afternoon program. They will be introduced at 4 p.m. and will compete in the street wear division of the pageant and will appear again at 6:20 p.m. for the evening wear competition, judging and crowning. Winners will be chosen by a panel of three out-of-town judges.

Each Miss Gravette and Miss Teen Gravette contestant will receive a goody bag. Miss Gravette winner will receive a $250 cash prize, the first runner-up a $100 cash prize, second runner-up $75 cash and third runner-up $50. Miss Teen Gravette winner will receive a $100 cash prize, with the first runner-up awarded $50 and the second runner-up $25.

Paper copies of the entry forms may be picked up at city hall and completed forms with $25 entry fee may be returned to city hall or brought to a mandatory informational meeting on Aug. 1. The Miss Teen Gravette contestant meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Gravette and the Miss Gravette contestant meeting at 6 p.m. at the same location. Miss Gravette contestants should come dressed in church attire for a photo session.
