— Though the weather was hot and sunny, near 90 degrees, on Monday, that didn't stop a good number of youth, along with parents and siblings, from coming out to the new Flint Creek Nature Area to try their luck at fishing in the spring-fed pond.

In years past, a multiple-day camp was held at the nature area. But, since the weather is usually hot and fishing is a favorite activity of the local youngsters, the Gentry Chamber of Commerce made it a one afternoon event focused on fishing this year.

And several of the youngsters caught fish in spite of the heat. The pond was recently stocked with catfish by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission so that the youg fishermen could have a good experience angling, some of them for their first time.
