GENTRY -- Participants in the June 8 summer reading program at Gentry Public Library learned about popular music from the era and had a surprise visit from Elvis Presley. Some even danced with Elvis as some of his songs were played at the library.

Before Elvis left, he posed for a photo with summer reading participants in a 1950's diner setting.

Since cars and cruising were a big part of the '50s, participants heard from two area residents about some popular cars of the era, including cars purchased by Elvis Presley.

Larry Garner talked to the children about his own car, very popular in the 1950s, and showed them his orange 1955 Chevy station wagon. Dale Draper showed the children his black 1928 Ford Model A.
