GRAVETTE -- Gravette's annual Independence Day celebration is planned for next Saturday, July 2. A flea market will be set up at the Gravette Historical Museum but all other activities will take place at Pop Allum Park.

The museum's flea market is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at its location at 503 Charlotte Street, S.E., Steve Mitchael, museum commission member, said the commission prides itself on offering something for everyone and there surely are many enthusiastic flea market shoppers in the area.

Persons wishing to set up booths at the flea market may do so at no charge but they chould bring their own table, tent and chairs. Vendors may sell anything except firearms. Contact Mitchael, 479-206-2491, to reserve a space.

A DJ will set up in Pop Allum Park and begin providing musical entertainment about 6 p.m. Free hot dogs will be served, courtesy of the city of Gravette, and the Gravette fire department will be providing free watermelon. An ice cream truck and other food vendors will also be on site.

The much anticipated annual fireworks show will begin shortly after dark. Mike von Ree, city clerk, is in his 20th year as coordinator of the fireworks and is known for always lining up a spectacular display.
