Maysville EH Club

The February meeting of the Maysville EH Club had 14 members in attendance. Orpha Wardlaw was hostess for the meal.

The business meeting began with a welcome and a song, "Pass It On," followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. We had inspirational readings entitled, "What is Love" and a "Garden of Love."

Orpha Wardlaw gave the lesson on embracing aging. Several keys to optimal aging included having a positive attitude, eating smart and healthy, brain and physical activity, safety precautions and stress management. She stressed the importance of getting enough quality sleep. She talked about sleep problems and disorders and gave recommendations to help people sleep. Insufficient or poor sleep can have a negative impact on the quality of life. It affects learning, memory, weight, mood, alters immune function and causes several other problems.

Several eye openers were given, including putting a bar of soap at the foot of bed to prevent leg cramps and placing a golf ball on the floor and rolling the feet over it helps relieves foot pain.

Robin Reichardt showed some recycled storage jars she spray painted with chalk paint.

Jane Wilber explained the purpose of the volunteer hours and explained how to find the County Extension Homemakers website.

Some upcoming county events scheduled are: Rag Rug workshop on Mar 17, Nursing Bib workshop on April 21, and County Council on April 15. Everyone is welcome to attend these events.

We discussed our spring fundraiser and set a date of April 23 for the event. The meeting was adjourned with the benediction.
