Police cite shoplifter, investigate gang graffiti

GENTRY -- Police cited Michael Watkins, 34, of Pea Ridge, on March 2 in connection to shoplifting a package of hot dogs from the Dollar General Store in Gentry. According to police reports, Watkins is alleged to have concealed a package of hot dogs in his pants pocket and left the store without paying for them after he paid for other items. Watkins was cited and released on misdemeanor theft charges according to police reports.

Police are investigating graffiti spray painted on the bleachers of the Main Street ball fields on the night or early morning of March 1-2. Graffiti included the name, "Kings," and is thought to be connected with a street gang known as the Latin Kings, police reports state. Anyone with information on the graffiti is asked to call the Gentry police at 479-736-8400.

Police arrested Derek Barrett, 25, in connection to receiving a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle alleged to have been stolen from a Gentry residence in November of 2015. The motorcycle was later located in Adair County, Okla., and was recovered. The motorcycle was damaged, according to police reports, with missing seat bolts, missing rear-view mirror, defective front brakes, a bent front rim and chipped and damaged paint. The report states that Shelter Insurance paid out more than $12,000 to repair damages.

The warrant issued for Barrett charges him with theft by receiving, a Class C felony.
