GENTRY -- It was all Gentry when the Pioneers hosted Greenland in a rain-delayed game on Friday and won big time, 15-0. Three Pioneer pitchers did their part in throwing a no-hitter and shutting down the Pirates; and big third and fourth innings sealed the game for Gentry, adding a combined 13 runs to the two the team put on the board in its first at bat.

Myles McFerron, Tanner Shipp and CJ Taylor each took their turns on the mound and, combined, had 10 strikeouts and two walks.

Taylor held Greenland hitless over the first three innings, He walked two and struck out seven.

A two-run double by Tanner Shipp in the first inning gave the Pioneers an early lead and the momentum needed to send the Pirates home empty handed.

Wyatt Clark led the Pioneers with his bat, getting on three times and scoring twice and picking up a run batted in.

The Pioneers scored their 15 runs on 10 hits. McFerron, Zac Adkins and Shipp each had two hits in the game. Shipp and McFerron each had doubles.

Oaks-Mission 7

On Saturday, the match up was much closer, but Gentry came out on top, defeating visiting Oaks-Mission, 8-7.

Oaks-Mission was up by four after the team's third at bat, but Gentry picked up two runs each in the third, fourth and fifth innings to take the lead, 6-5. The Warriors answered by tying up the game in the top of the sixth and taking the lead in the top of the eighth, 7-6.

But the Pioneers managed to come back and score two in the bottom of the inning to end the game and get the win -- CJ Taylor, who singled to the pitcher, made it home on an Oaks' error, and Alvarez Del Castillo, pinch runner for Myles McFerron, made it home on a shortstop error.

Wyatt Clark picked up three hits -- one of them a double -- and a walk in his five at bats. He struck out once. He also batted in three runs.

Taylor and Zac Adkins each had a pair of hits in the game. Taylor also doubled.

Clark started on the mound for Gentry and allowed three hits and struck out one in just over two innings of pitching. McFerron struck out four but walked five in his two innings on the mound. Tanner Shipp and Josh Cochran also took turns on the mound, with Cochran adding three more Warrior batters to the strike-out list. Cochran was credited with the win in the game.
