GENTRY -- The Pioneers got by Providence Academy on Friday, 8-7, but fell when they traveled to Ozark on Thursday, 6-2.

A big seventh inning saved the day for the Pioneers on Friday after Gentry fell behind Providence Academy and was down, 7-4, after six and a half innings of play. Alverez Del Castillo scored on a Zac Adkins single to left. Then Tanner Christie hit a line-drive double to right, driving in Tanner Shipp and Adkins to tie the game up and seven apiece.

After Ayden Smartt was intentionally walked by Providence, Wyatt Clark hit a ground ball single to third and brought in Adkins for the game-winning run.

The Pioneers picked up two runs each in the first and second innings and did not plate another base runner until the final inning.

Clark and Christie led the Pioneers with three and two RBIs, respectively. Smartt and Clark both had two hits, and Christie had the only double in the game.

CJ Taylor and Ayden Smartt split up pitching duties for the Pioneers. Taylor struck out five, and Smartt sent two back to the dugout swinging.
